International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF)

The International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) is an independent NGO registered in 1992. IEPF works in collaboration with UN Agencies, the US State Department, EC, World Bank, the International Press Institute, and International Federation of Journalists, National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), Foreign Missions in Azerbaijan, and with local and international NGOs functioning in the region.

IEPF works primarily in 4 key areas:

Community Development;
Crisis Management & Peace Building;
Media & Civil Society Development; and
Refugees/IDPs Issues

IEPF is the member of UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the European Council on Refugees and Exile (ECRE), Public-Private Partnership Program of USDOS/PM/WRA, International Peace Bureau (IPB), and International Press Institute (IPI). IEPF is one of the founders of the Azerbaijan Press Council and the Forum of the Azerbaijan National NGOs.

Since its inception, along with other activities, IEPF conducted numerous researches and undertook peace-building program on conflicts resolution– both ethnic and military, in the Caucasus regions.  Some of the salient projects that IEPF has implemented so far are: “Peace at Home. Peace in the Country. Peace in the World.” (1992), “Level One Landmine Survey”  (2000-2001), “The Landmine Impact Survey” (2002-2003), “NATO and the Regional Security” (2002), “The Community Mine Action Team” (ongoing since 2002), “Mine Victims’ Needs Assessment”  (2004), “Establishing and Functioning of Azerbaijan Mine Victims Association (AMVA) in 3 Districts of Azerbaijan –Tartar, Fizuli and Aghstafa” (2006-2008); “Monitoring of Grants being allocated by the Presidential Council on Civil Society Development to the national NGOs (2008-2009)”; “Promote Peace in the schools where both IDP/Refugee and local  pupils are studying (2009-ongoing)” and “Establishment of Vocational Training Center for the Mine/UXO victims and their immediate relatives (USDOS/2009-ongoing)”.

IEPF gives high priority on creating opportunities for self-income generation for the disabled and/or the less fortunate, in a period of transition from humanitarian aid to development. For this purpose, the National Bank of Azerbaijan granted license to Non-Bank Credit Organization “Avrasia-Kredit” Ltd. - founded and guided by IEPF in 2007.  With the financial support of the US DOS PM/WRA, “Avrasia Kredit” has begun to distribute small credits to the less fortunate people in Fizuli, Terter and Aghstafa districts. The “Eurasia-Credit” Ltd. has also established cooperation with other international and national donors.

 “Avrasia Press’ of IEPF has published over a thousand prints in circulation of numerous relevant books and training materials which were shared with the general public for various purposes.

The IEPF has regional offices in Terter, Aghstafa and Fizuli districts of Azerbaijan and through these regional offices, the IEPF coordinates it regional functions.
